About Marginalia

Written in the margins.

An independent quarterly on cities, craft and the tools we live with. Printed in Rotterdam, read in sixty-one countries.

The idea

Marginalia began as a stapled newsletter about repair cafés and grew into a quarterly because the stories kept getting longer. Each issue follows one word — Water, Night Shift, Repair — through the city until it starts to mean something new. We pay every contributor, we print on recycled paper, and we will never put a paywall in front of a story.
